The First 5 Star Green Star for NDY Melbourne

The Green Building Council of Australia recently awarded Norman Disney & Young’s project at Docklands Digital Harbour; Port 1010, in Melbourne, the Docklands first 5 Star Green Star rating for Office Design v2.

As the ESD Consultant for the 16,000m² commercial building, from concept design through to completion, NDY’s challenge was to ensure that the development’s goal of maximised energy efficiency and minimised environmental impact was achieved.

Leading and collaborating the Green Star rating and Docklands ESD submissions; NDY also provided electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, fire and vertical transportation services to Port 1010.

Project Coordinator, Alan Edler said, “Key to the services components of our solution was the use of an on-site blackwater treatment system to recycle waste water, combined with low VOC materials, a highly efficient façade and VAV system and an energy efficient lighting solution.”

In addition to the Green Star rating, Digital Harbour – Port 1010 also received an “Award of Merit” under the Docklands ESD scheme.

Designed to encourage collaboration and interaction between organisations located there; Customs, Film Victoria and Vic Track are already major tenants.
