Matrix Risk Joins the NDY Group
August 22, 2008: Leading engineering firm Norman Disney & Young (NDY) has boosted its market leading risk management capability by acquiring Melbourne based consultancy Matrix Risk Pty Ltd, to create NDY Matrix Risk Engineering.
The deal, effective 1 August 2008, combines the loss prevention and risk management expertise of Matrix Risk with the traditional engineering services and international resources of NDY to provide a more comprehensive and holistic service to clients on a global scale.
It also provides NDY with exposure to Matrix Risk’s extensive blue chip clients and enables the firm to offer its suite of engineering services to an expanded client base.
NDY CEO, Mr Ian Hopkins, said the establishment of NDY Matrix Risk Engineering represents an important strategic growth initiative for the firm.
‘NDY is committed to providing a holistic and comprehensive engineering service to it’s clients. The expertise and reputation Matrix Risk has developed is an important addition to our existing specialty engineering disciplines and is a prime example of the value-add services we are able to offer,’ Mr Hopkins said.
’The NDY Matrix Risk partnership will enable our clients to have access to industry recognised expertise in loss prevention, risk management and training.’
Matrix Risk is a risk management consultancy that delivers practical and cost effective loss prevention and risk management services and solutions in the chemical, process, building, mining and transport industries.
The extensive experience of Matrix Risk Principals Jim Green and Dedrie Beukes, coupled with the powerful software tools they have developed, provides the basis of the company's unique service offering.
’The deal with NDY represents an exciting new development for Matrix Risk that will enhance our service offering and our ability to deliver on a wider geographical platform,’ said Dr Green.
Dr Green stressed that the move does not affect existing clients of Matrix Risk and all contract arrangements will remain in place.
NDY’s John Clampett, one of the country’s most experienced fire industry professionals, will join the NDY Matrix Risk Engineering team. Mr Clampett has been involved in the Australian fire industry for 30 years and has undertaken projects in numerous countries. He has previously held roles with the Melbourne Fire Brigade, Australian Building Codes Board, Building Research Association of New Zealand and CSIRO Industrial Research Services.
NDY Matrix Risk Engineering is an important addition to NDY’s existing specialist disciplines, which also include Environment, Health, Security, Interiors, NDYLight, Sound, MPlus and Fire Engineering. These specialist services complement NDY’s core Mechanical, Electrical, Fire Protection, Hydraulic and Vertical Transportation disciplines, placing the Group in an unparalleled position to deliver a comprehensive service offering to satisfy and exceed our clients’ needs and expectations.
