Mandatory Disclosure

From the 1st November 2011, the Commercial Building Disclosure (CBD) scheme will come into effect for commercial office buildings.

In its current form, the scheme will impose a number of requirements on building owners when they sell or lease office space of more than 2,000sqm. These include the need to disclose a National Australian Built Environment Rating System (NABERS) Base Building Energy rating and Building Energy Efficiency certificate.

Full ISO EMS accreditation for Norman Disney & Young

Further to the successful accreditation of four of its six Australian offices to the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System - Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Canberra - NDY has now received full accreditation across its entire Australian operation.
 
The ISO 14001 accreditation reinforces NDY’s commitment to deliver leading design outcomes that encompass the principles of sustainability. It further expands the company’s certification to both the UK and Australian operations.

NDY Brisbane project achieves 5 star milestone

Norman Disney & Young’s 275 George Street project has been awarded a 5 star Green Star – Office ‘As Built’ v2 rating by the Green Building Council of Australia. The ‘A Grade’ commercial office building in Brisbane’s central business district had earlier been awarded a 5 star ‘Design’ rating.

NDY wins award for data centre in northern England

Norman Disney & Young has won a Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) Low Carbon Performance Award 2010 for the HP Wynyard Data Centre. The award for Design or Technical Innovation of the Year was presented to NDY at a ceremony in London on 4 February 2010.

The HP Wynyard Data Centre utilises a unique air cooling system. It was designed to achieve annual energy savings of over 40% compared to a typical modern data centre design.

Building owners advised to act quickly in seeking funding from Green Building Fund

Building owners should act quickly to secure assistance from the federal government’s A$90 million Green Building Fund according to Norman Disney & Young’s Melbourne-based manager of MPlus Nick Thurlow.

The Green Building Fund was set up in an attempt to reduce the energy consumed in Australia’s commercial office buildings. Grants of up to $A500,000 are available to owners of existing buildings.

Innovative outreach program targets tomorrow’s engineers
