Tauranga Crossing, Tauranga, New Zealand

Client: Tauranga Crossing

Architect: Warren & Mahoney

Tauranga Crossing is a regional shopping destination located within the Bay of Plenty. The stage two expansion delivers a fully enclosed retail experience for patrons with two-level galleria mall, two dining precincts the Observatory and the Garden Eateries, the latter which extends into a backyard inspired playground & relaxation garden. The space is designed to embrace the local community providing a warm and inviting environment in which one feels familiar, comfortable and welcome.

The driving conceptual foundations are a warmth and comfort, which are adaptable throughout the day transiting from daytime through to nighttime trading. The galleria mall provides a light and bright circulation space without overpowering the tenant shop fronts such that they remain the focal point within the space. The design intent is such that the lighting reacts to the architectural form, integrating seamlessly and accentuating the materiality.

The entertainment & leisure precinct is your recharge, refresh, refuel and hangout zone, on the upper level is the Observatory on the lower level the Garden Eateries offer a pop-up pocket style dining experiences each with a unique design solution, perfect for intimate group dining within a larger space.
