Carnival Australia's commercial office fitout, located on Levels 3, 4 and 5 of 15 Mount Street/60 Miller Street, North Sydney was completed in 2010. Carnival Australia is a division of Carnival Corp and represents six of the international cruise bands in the local market. The fitout occupies 5350m2 across three levels and accommodates 350-400 staff in an open plan environment, supplemented by boardroom/conference room facilities, training facilities, meeting rooms and breakout spaces.

Watermark Architecture & Interiors were the appointed interior designers for the project, with a direction from Carnival Australia to communicate Carnival’s cruise ship brands within their built environment and convey the experience of cruising using materials, colours and environmental graphics.

Norman Disney & Young (NDY) was commissioned by DTZ project management to provide engineering consulting services for the design, documentation and construction quality services to facilitate the themed fitout.

NDY's involvement in base building services upgrades, a full detailed design of integrated services into the base building systems, and ongoing defects inspections/commissioning during the construction phase, further assisted in the successful completion of the project. Key features of the project consisted of the following.

Internal Stair

An internal stair was built to allow travel of employees from Levels 3-5 to enhance and promote the open atmosphere of the fitout. The internal stair links the training facilities and breakout space on Level 3 with the atrium breakout on Level 4 and reception on Level 5 and included specialty lighting incorporated into the architectural design by NDYLIGHT.

Floor Plate
Carnival Australia's floor plate (Levels 3-5) sits across two addresses, 60 Miller Street and 15 Mount Street (a new building created to expand the floor plate of Levels 1-5). This represented a number of challenges, including two separate cores providing independent services to each side of the floor plate.

24 Hour Call Centre
A 24 hour/7day a week national call centre was incorporated into the design to support Carnival Australia's operations. This required the design and installation of dedicated air conditioning systems to provide after hours cooling to the call centre and supporting main computer room.
