Boston Consulting Group Fitout, 101 Collins Street, Melbourne

Client: Boston Consulting Group

Architect: Bates Smart

About the Project

The Boston Consulting Group workspace, split across two levels at 101 Collins Street in Melbourne, was designed to specifically respond to the geography of the location using identifiable Melbourne characteristics as subtle design languages ranging from finishes, textures and patterns throughout the space.

Light was used as an integral tool throughout the reception, waiting and meeting room spaces of the fitout to highlight and re-enforce these design languages whilst also maintaining a functional outcome.

The approach to lighting within the key client facing spaces focused around the key design languages established by the architectural team at Bates Smart. The spaces were made up of a limited palette of materials and finishes with light used to either compliment the finish and texture of the surface, gently illuminate it so it’s warmth radiated out or to use a curated light element as the key element in concert with other elements or even all on its own.
