Palazzo Versace, Queensland, Australia

Client: Palazzo Versace

About the project

Located on a natural spit on Queensland’s idyllic Gold Coast, the Palazzo Versace is the first designer luxury hotel and apartment resort in the world.

The complex boasts some of the best facilities on offer from private lagoons and spas through to restaurants, function areas and boutiques.

The brief was to provide the external and facade lighting design. The solutions adopted revolve around concealed lighting to create luminosity and dramatic contrast to bodies of water and bridges. Other salient landscape features have been treated with discrete inground up-lighting techniques. The proximity of these sources to the illuminated subject ensures light sources are never directly viewed. To enhance the relaxed ambiance further, all luminaires are intentionally located below normal sight lines.

To ensure the design intent is not compromised between routine maintenance periods, the long life energy efficient light sources have been used through out.
